A look back over Q2 in shoots

2025: A look back: April - June: pt1

With the Euro road trip done and dusted we head into the second quarter of the year.

April

It was a first visit of the year to the fabulous Basfordhurst Cottage, now rebranded as Basford Filming and Photography Location and a great half day with Cariad Celis.

Over Easter, we had our first pet sitting tip of the year to the South of France. This was for a new couple, and a recommendation from our usual gig. We were to mind two noisy Persians. Whilst there, I chanced my arm with a casting for a studio I'd found in Toulouse. I had two takers and two very different shoots.

First up was Catalina: a newish model who spoke no English, and my Duolingo French was severely lacking. With a bit of Google Translate and gesticulation, we managed to achieve some really nice images. What's been really gratifying is to see how these images have helped her to garner attention, and she is really busy now. This was repaid later in the year, but more on that when we get there…

After this shoot, a quick lunch break and then Laurie (models as Kaeethe) arrived for a more art-based set of images. Heavy on the editorial and experimentation, we let loose.

May

I hit the ground running in May, by re-uniting with Marie. We worked out it had been 7 years since our last shoot. Neither of us feeling it could have been that long and vowed not to leave it so long again!

A trade shoot with a returning mature model took me to Silkwood on a very rare weekend shoot.

And to round out this first part of May, I headed to a rehearsal studio on the outskirts of Sheffield to grab a quick shoot with model and drummer, Alice the Fabulous.

Tomorrow we'll cover two of the top five shoots of the year. Yes, I know you shouldn't have favourites, but it's impossible not to remember some shoots more favourably than others! See you in the morning…
