All that glitters is green
Eowyn and a Disney-esque fashion parade
Shoot overview
This member-only set is a vision in glittering green: a Disney-esque princess gown, but photographed without the tweeness. It’s built around a simple contrast that works well in the studio: ornate sparkle and texture in the dress, paired with restrained posing and a clean, dark background so the image reads editorial rather than costume.
How the shoot came about
Eowyn (Gwyneth) and I shot this in late March at John Ayliffe’s Libre studio in Liverpool. The date moved around a bit while I was juggling travel planning for May, and she was very patient while it was off, then on again. We brought the shoot forward to late March and this dress landed as the fifth look in a nine-look day, so we were nicely warmed up and moving efficiently.
What makes this look work
- Texture as subject: the bodice beadwork and sequins change character with tiny angle shifts, so small turns of the torso and chin create genuinely different frames.
- Shape without chaos: holding the skirt out introduces movement and silhouette while keeping the pose clean and controlled.
- Restraint in expression: the set leans on calm, composed portraits—direct gaze, soft head turns, and contained gestures—so the dress stays the hero without tipping into caricature.
