Celtic Sparkle

Cariad, sequins and the fabulous Basfordhurst Cottage

Celtic Sparkle

Basfordhurst Cottage, or filming and photography location, as it's recently been rebranded, has quickly become one of the locations on my shortlist of northen(ish) studios/places to shoot from.

In part this is due to who Leanne is managing to attract. Irida from London was a recent visitor, and images from that shoot will appear here soon enough.

But the place is available for reasonable hire if you take a half day. As that's my preferred shoot length, anyway, and it's a 2 hour each way drive for me, anything less becomes not worth the travel time.

My time there with Cariad, in April, was a booking I'd made - ie not one of Leanne's organised "studio days".

This was the last set Cariad and I shot that day. I've been looking for different ways to shoot art nudes, as a lot of what I do is figure studies under studio lighting. Without that control, it's a lot harder to get the shadows that elevate this type of image.

In a natural light situation, the model and I will often make use of material to add an extra dimension and interest to what might otherwise be an image of a naked person.

This one is for Archive Room supporters, so if you haven't already, do consider signing up to the remaining 20+ images in this set and learn more about how it was all created. A 7-day free trial is available on the Archive Room tier.
