With a little calm between trips and fewer shoots, this time is spent ensuring kit is all ship shape, batteries have good charge and of course life and shoot admin.

But it also means that there is a lot more content to prep and share with you. And today, we go back to December '24 and my first shoot with Valentina.

Valentina and the Stool

I recently shot with Valentina (she uses LEnza as her modelling name) at Liber8 Studio on the outskirts of Chorley, in Lancashire. It was our first time working together, and she didn’t disappoint. There’s something about European models; they just seem very at ease in their own bodies and come

For this shoot, Valentina was touring the north and had a studio day lined up at Paol's ace studio in Chorley, Liber8. I believe we were shooting either the day before or after that shoot day so we had the place to ourselves and no real-time pressures as we had 3 hours booked.

With a quick run through of outfits and the first few looks agreed upon, we got down to work. And work we did. Valentina easily matched my work pace and seemed to enjoy the frequency with which we changed looks and set-ups.

This look was more about simplicity, so Valentina donned a sleek plunging body, with a simple chain choker and heels. We pulled this leather chair into the scene and I left her to it.

I'm always impressed with how the best models can take such simple set-ups and craft art from them.

That is, of course, if we photographers don't stuff up the angle, composition or exposure!
