Mathilde dreams of NYC

Far away

Shooting update

Busier week this week. I'm heading back to London tomorrow morning for a full afternoon (1pm - 9pm) of shooting with new models, followed by a full day with Portuguese art model Ana Almeida on Wednesday.

And then our annual trip to the Great Yorkshire Show on Friday.

Today's content

Back to January, today, and the penultimate shoot in Berlin of my two days of shooting there.

I've been so lucky this year to shoot with the models I've been able to line up. Yes it's cost a fair bit, but each one has helped me to elevate my output, I feel. Or is that buyer's justification?

I'd say not. These shoots are real experiences that differ massively from working with all but the very best UK models. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not criticising or berating UK models here, just stating it's a very different experience. I don't fully understand how, but many of the European modelling community are hugely brilliant at imbuing their posing and positioning with a big kick of personality or emotion.

It makes for an interesting image cull, post shoot. These shoots have been some of the hardest to get down to a reasonable level, even for my highly streamlined editing process.

Anyway, enough waffling, So Mathilde (models as Dottir Model) and I met at the studio in Berlin, as the meat in my shoot sandwich on the last day in Berlin. We had a half day booked, did we make use of it!

Mathilde had had a bit of a disastrous trip to Berlin, with her phone dying on her shortly after arrival. I guess it's only when we're without our pocket life organisers that we realise how much we now rely on them. Still, she arrived bang on time even without a portable sat nav in her pocket.

We shot many looks this day and one has already featured:

For this look, we went super simple, with Mathilde donning a pair of sheer tights. This one was all about the mood, emotions, and lighting. The full 30 image set is available to subscribers.
