We're back to my reunion with Kayla, in June of this year, at my second home, Basford, today.

I was so happy with the half day spent with Kayla in Scotland, last year, that it was a very simple decision to spend a full day with her on her 2026 visit. Knowing what Basford had on offer, I booked the venue and secured Kayla for the day. Subsequent to this I think Leanne (the owner) and Kayla had words and she successfully sold out the weekend before. Happy to have played a very small part in other photographers getting to experience working with her!

Kayla is incredibly invested in the shoot, preferring frequent image reviews to ensure that we don't miss anything. Some photographers dislike this approach, but I'd rather a model review images and spot an issue than it become a problem after the event. The best models are acutely aware of what they were aiming for, and if an image isn't right, they know it right away.

We used the stairwell at Basford for this look. It's undecorated and I know I'm not the only photographer, or indeed model, to have made it clear to Leanne that it can't be decorated. Its unfinished state makes a perfect backdrop and so hopefully it will remain as is for the foreseeable future!
