The Anatomy of Landscapes

Minh-Ly and a geographical exploration

The Anatomy of Landscapes

Shooting update

As this post goes live, I've had to make some schedule changes. Cat, my wife, got a last-minute slot for a repair operation on one of her ear drums. But her recovery isn't as speedy as we'd hoped, so the trip to the Italian Lakes we'd planned and this week's shoots have all had to be cancelled and re-arranged.

Today's content

Today is a post exploring some ideas that will likely make it into an art book at some point later this year. Once I have more content.

I feel I'm reasonably adept at figure art nudes now, but always learning. So I've built on that knowledge to focus in on the more abstract elements within figure studies. In a lot of ways, there are parallels to landscape photography. So, whilst I'm not the first photographer to go here, I've started working with select models on a landscape type exploration of their anatomies.

Time will tell whether the work is good enough or plentiful enough to populate a full art book, but it's an interesting journey, never the less.

The subject of today's post is travelling Thai model, Minh-Ly. I only became aware of her availability as a result of an invite from Holly (Ivory Flame) to an event she was doing with Minh-Ly. Whilst I couldn't do that event, a quick glance at her portfolio had me reaching for the keyboard to try and make a solo shoot happen.

Thankfully it all worked out, and we met in Birmingham and this was the very last set of our time together.
