When Things get Meshy

Christall bringing the drama and the mesh

When Things get Meshy

So today's monochromatic wonders were part of probably one of the best shoots I've had in all the years I've been doing this.

The last day of the road trip, an early start in Germany to blast back over to Antwerp. Including a couple of sprints, seeing what Alice could actually get up to. Let's just say I bottled things before she was ready to give up accelerating. Thank you, derestricted authobahns!

Anyway, so back to Zilverbeek on the Monday to round things off with my first time shooting with the very busy and popular Russian model, Christall.

Her work is of a style and level that I don't tend to see in UK models' portfolios. It often tends towards the erotic, and whilst I'm not there, yet I was keen to try to channel even a smidgen of Helmut Newton with some of the looks we planned.

On time, and ready to go, we blitzed through looks like they didn't happen. The three of us, Christall, Raf and I bounced ideas around and there's another set featuring this outfit, in colour, which I'll share another time. One of Raf's “a cool alternative look could be…” moments.

Working with highly experienced models does pay dividends, I feel. Yes, they are more expensive, but the throughput, the number of keepers and the sheer quality of image produced (assuming I don't muck up the technical stuff) means cost per image is arguably cheaper than working with less experienced co-creators.
